IMG_7349Jean Darby has been maintaining the bells for St. Paul’s United Methodist Church for several years.  We have always been pleased with the periodic maintenance and any needed repairs.  She is always ready, willing and able to help us with whatever happens, so when I found the bells after the tornado I knew we would need advice and help in the restoration.  The day the insurance adjusters were asking me questions about the bells, I knew we would need to have Jean assess and recommend.  We took the bells to Kansas City and left them for her to assess and recommend (you can see the pics on her website) – – she even talked with the insurance adjusters about needed repairs and replacement.  She mailed us a per bell detailed assessment and recommendation!!

Some weeks later I went after the bells and found a thrilling surprise—she had replaced the bell cases with wheeled bell cases!  We all LOVE that!  Our group does performances away from the church so the wheeled cases are a great addition!!  Oh, I forgot to mention – the bells were all “like new” even the ones she repaired instead of replaced!  So, Thank you Jean for a job  well done!”

I have been very happy with the repair service of handbells that Jean Darby of Darby Handbells has offered over the many years, from Area 8 HIC bell maintenance to handbell camp repair artist to a single bell needing a replacement part.

During the 10 years of Area 8 Festivals, Darby Handbells has been a fixture with an HIC booth, repairing festival bells as necessary as well as offering advice on maintenance of bells when at home.

As a director of the Intergenerational Handbell Camp, we have had Jean maintain bells and fix whatever is necessary as she perused the 6 sets of handbells as well as 4 sets of handchimes used annually during camp.

The King Ringers contracted with Jean Darby to refurbish their 5 octave set a few years ago. And the job was well done.

As needs arise, Jean has always been available for the quick repair or for scheduled maintenance. The bellfixer is just that!

But you get the picture: Jean Darby has repaired countless handbells and hand chimes for me over the years.  I wouldn’t take my instruments any place else.
